Catholic Life In Our Times
Catholic life in our times can be trying but, with our trust in the Lord, we will be triumphant through Him. As I reflected on the name of my blog, I realized the time had come. Designs by Birgit no longer represents my mission or my focus in life. Begun as a Mommy Blog, Designs by Birgit shared the usual fare – home schooling, crafts, recipes, and even how to make your own veil. As they say, time marches on, and my mission grew into Pro-life Designs. My small apostolate shares pro-life memes and stories about life as a pro-life Catholic, with a sprinkling of family faith sharing.
New Beginnings
Now, however, I find myself at a crossroads. For almost five years now, I have worked within the spiritual family of Catholic Stand. It is my pleasure to not only write for such a wonderful Catholic online publication, but to also share my talents as the graphic editor. When you work with some of the best writers in the Catholic blogosphere, some of their expertise and faith tends to rub off on you. This brings me to the conclusion – I have outgrown my niche as an author.
I have also been blessed to be linked to and written for some extremely well-known Catholic sites. The old name just seems pretentious now.
Catholic Life In Our Times
With this realization, it became evident that a new brand was needed. After asking family, friends, and faithful fans for their thoughts in a poll, a new name rose to the top. It reflects everything on which I now focus. Artistic pursuits will always be a top priority in my personal life and the pro-life memes I continue to create will be the fruit. Yet my real passion is found in discussing current events from the pro-life Catholic perspective.
Catholic life in our times is not easy. It is not for the faint of heart, but God asks us to work our hardest and make our gifts available for His work. So that is what I feel to the call to do. We Catholics are used to adversity. In fact, we tend to attract it. After all, we are in the world, not of it. From the time of Jesus and the disciples, Christianity has been an uphill battle. If we hope to join the saints in Glory, it is our job to act as the Church Militant – to fight with everything we have to battle evil.

Mine is just a simple blog from an amateur writer but, hopefully, some of my musings will hit a note with those who come here. I cannot take credit for what I write or create. It all comes from inspiration from the Holy Spirit and the talents endowed to me by God. I pray that I use these gifts wisely and touch a soul now and again. With that in mind, I humbly ask that you consider following Catholic Life In Our Times. I promise to not over burden readers and will post no more than twice per week – as the Spirit moves me. His hushed whisper will be my guide.
